Based in Chicago, Paul Mutzabaugh is a multi-instrumentalist who has worked professionally for over 20 years in both live and studio settings, enjoying a variety of genres and disciplines. Versatile in a myriad of keyboard instruments – acoustic & electric pianos, Hammond B3 organ, synthesizers, and accordion – he is also a highly adept bassist, specializing in electric bass guitar and synth bass. Additional doublings include acoustic & electric guitars, as well as auxiliary percussion.
Paul also works consistently as a producer and audio engineer in service of a wide range of artists, for which he has received Grammy and Emmy nominations. Assisting others to realize their creative vision in recorded form is a particularly fulfilling aspect of his music-making. Pinguino Studio was developed to meet pro-level recording and production demands for projects in need of overdub tracking, digital editing, mixing, and mastering. A full gear list is available HERE.
Paul holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Composition from DePaul University and is a former marching member of the Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps ('97-'00, tenor drums). He is a member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 10-208 (Chicago) and the Theatre Musicians Association - Chicago Chapter (currently serving on the executive board).
